This series of pastel pet portraits is based on my family's beloved pets. Working from a photograph, I try to capture the subject's personality in their expression or way they hold themselves. The chalk of dry pastel on rough surface coated paper makes it fun to capture the texture of fur. All of these paintings have been gifts and none has been in a show.
